Love CamRanger 2

I’ve been using the CamRanger 2 for a few years now and it still works great!

Long-time user

Howdy, I'm a long-time user, having first had a pair of the CamRanger 1's, now a pair of the 2's. Using Canon 5D3s and 5D4s, shooting primarily architecture and interiors. I use your product a majority of the time when shooting interiors to check lighting and details of the scene. Exteriors are a bit more tricky, since it's difficult to see the results on an iPad. When I use a camera on a vertical extension tripod, up to 24" high, the CamRanger is invaluable in getting the exposures needed. It's been a great addition to my workflow, occasionally supplanting an assistant on a shoot, since I can walk and shoot with a "strobe-on-a-stick" with it.

I will occasionally use both CamRangers simultaneously, particularly when shooting two twilight views of a building at once. One will be tethered to my iPad, the other to my iPhone. This allows one lighting setup, and one twilight "window of opportunity" to capture two views. When I was using the model 1 and did this, there were lots of instances where the CamRanger would be recognized by the "wrong" device, meaning that Camera 1 would be tethered to Ranger 1, then suddenly jump to Ranger 2. This problem seems to have been solved with the Model 2. Good job, just make sure that if Model 3 is percolating in your labs, that this "fix" remains in place.

There's not much I could suggest to improve. The Live Pano and Crowd Control offered with the Arsenal 2 are nice, but not something that I would use on a regular basis. As always, better battery life, increased range, and faster boot-up are always a goal for day-to-day use, but are currently satisfactory. The only issue I've had is the joint where the antenna joins the body of the unit is a bit weak. When the antenna is rotated away from the body, it feels as if it's stretched out and could snap off at any moment. One of mine has, and I will be sending it in for repair shortly. Other than that, no complaints.

Great product, keep up the good work.

CamRanger: A Must-Have Essential for Architectural Photographers

As a full-time architectural photographer, the CamRanger has become an indispensable tool in my professional arsenal, alongside my camera body, lens, and tripod. It stands out as the sole device enabling tethered shooting on my iPad, providing invaluable features such as live view previews, remote camera function control, and the ability to capture multiple exposures. When working with manual focus tilt-shift lenses, the CamRanger allows me to remotely control ISO, shutter speed, aperture, and when using auto-focus lenses, it performs auto focus-stacking seamlessly, providing essential flexibility in capturing precise shots.

One of the fantastic advantages is the freedom to leave my camera securely mounted on a tripod in tight or challenging spaces, maximizing the space and composition while minimizing the need for extensive retouching in post-production. Being able to view and manage all necessary camera functions from a distance is a critical asset in my line of work. The user interface is not only user-friendly but also boasts a robust functionality that caters perfectly to my professional needs.

What truly sets CamRanger apart is their exceptional customer support. Quick and responsive, they have consistently demonstrated a commitment to addressing any troubleshooting or inquiries promptly. In an era where exceptional customer care is a rarity, CamRanger stands out as a unique and commendable example. Having owned both the original CR and upgraded to CR2, I can attest to their unwavering reliability. Simply put, CamRanger is an essential part of my workflow for every job I perform. For anyone involved in architectural photography, real estate, or any form of remote shooting, this tool is an absolute must-have.
